The Remedie Rooms opened its door in November 2005 after many years of research in the Spa Industry.

Its Owner, Mariama, grew up in France where she lived in many different areas including the South (French Riviera), Provence, Central France and beautiful Paris. Growing up Mariama always had a strong attraction to the Sea and at a very young age realised its healing benefits.

Mariama moved to London in 1990 and worked as an Executive Assistant within the financial sector but always had the desire to work within the beauty and Spa industry using products from the sea. She gave up the City life in 2002 to train as a Spa-Therapist and spent time researching the best range of treatments and associated homecare products to offer her Clientele.

“The Remedie Rooms” name was then chosen to reflect the remedial effect created by her chosen Brands.

A LITTLE HISTORY AND SEA SCIENCE

Marine elements are our planet’s life source. The benefits of the sea have been known for thousands of years. In the 17th Century, Rene Quinton (Biologist) experimented with seawater and demonstrated its similarities between that and human blood plasma.

In the 18th Century, the idea of a sea resort for rest and relaxation developed and included the utilisation of seawater baths which progressed into the 19th Century and led to the development of Thalassotherapy (from the Greek, Thalassa = Sea /Therapia = Cure) Centres.

Since the 1950’s Thalassotherapy Centres have multiplied along the French coastline and now over 44 centres line the shore.
